This section answers some of the questions you may have about the way Chapman Robinson work.

Q. What is the added value which you, as architects, will bring to our project?
A. We work with clients at all stages of the project to achieve best value, high quality design. At inception, we will analyse the brief and recommend modifications if necessary. A concept will be developed with the client to ensure that the design meets the budget and is energy efficient, but in addition meets aspirations for a unique and special building. Specifications and details will be drawn up and construction monitored on site to ensure the finished product is in accordance with these, and is completed on time and within budget.

Q. What distinguishes Chapman Robinson from other architects?
A. We are a medium sized practice with 12 members of staff, but with the depth of experience and range of expertise of a much larger practice. This means we still provide a personal service, with Directors working closely on each scheme, ensuring conformity and consistency throughout the life of the project. We have built up a well balanced team of high calibre architects who have been with the practice for several years. Our in-house skills are often supplemented by a range of other professional partners, who expand the range of services we offer. We use efficient 'state of the art' systems and provide good training support to our team. Finally, the practice is unusual in having expertise in 3 different fields: master planning and urban design, housing and healthcare.

Q. What geographical area does the practice cover?
A. Although we do work nationally, most of our work is in the North West. Our office is in Manchester City Centre, and a high proportion of our work is in the conurbations of Manchester and Liverpool. Manchester and Liverpool City Councils are major clients and partners for some projects. It appears that both these councils like working with our practice, as they keep coming back with new projects.

Q. Do you charge for initial consultation with a new client?
A. No; one of the Directors will attend a meeting to discuss a new project and advise the prospective client of the services which we can offer, and the fees which will be charged.
